My Daily Routine

A user asked via the Ask the Darcy link:

what is the first thing you do every morning?

I am a creature of habit.  I do most things the exact same way every day, and in the same order.  If I do something out of order, I could very well get so thrown off that I forget to do other important things.

So, what is the first thing I do every morning?  I lay in bed and check my e-mail on my phone.  Then I get up and brush my teeth, put my contacts in and pee.  Then I look for my cat.

All of that is standard for any day.  There are several scenarios about what can come next.

Monday through Friday, I get ready to go to work, make my iced coffee, find my cat again, and then leave for work.  My dad, also a creature of habit, chooses this exact time to put his Pop Tart in the toaster.  So there is usually an awkward time where we are both in the exact same area, refusing to stop for a few minutes until the other person is done.

On my way to work I take the exact same route.

If it’s a weekend day, I do the same “beginning wake up” routine, but it is followed by making regular coffee (i.e. hot) and either sitting on the porch or sitting in the family room.  This is usually followed by a nap.

This is not a very exciting question to answer, I think we need to amp up the intrigue level of the Ask the Darcy questions.  Granted, I don’t mind my own ramblings, I have no shortage of things I like to hear myself talk about (read myself write about), so no pressure. But damn it, get creative.  I like this Ask the Darcy thing, it turns out interesting usually – unless I’m describing my daily routine.

On another note, there was a cricket on my car door yesterday.  You may recall my post about a grasshopper landing on my neck.  I am being outright threatened by grasshoppers and crickets.  AND they’ve called in back up.  I used to have a huge problem with white spiders in every car I’ve ever owned, but it’s been a long time since I’ve seen one.  After I made AJ kill the cricket, there was a freaking white spider on my door.  They are AFTER ME.  I don’t know what I did to deserve this, but I am being hunted.

Right now I’m listening to random chirping, clicking, and croaking noises from outside and it makes me want to live in a bunker.  Some people enjoy the sounds of nature, whereas I just assume they are all communicating about how to freak me out the most.
